Privacy Policy

Maps for Math (mapsformath.com) is published by Monroe Automatic (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information is involved when you use the site and the choices you have. The short version: there are no accounts, we don’t ask for your name or email, and your calculations stay on your device.

Information we don’t collect

You can use every exhibit, calculator, chain, and PDF export without signing up. We don’t collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, or payment details through the site. The numbers you type are processed in your browser. They are not sent to us.

Information stored on your device

• Page address. When you change values or build a board, the settings are written into the page address (URL) so you can bookmark or share them. A link only goes to other people if you share it.
• Session storage. The interactive board saves its layout in your browser’s session storage so it survives a reload. It is erased when you close the tab and is never sent to us.
• No cookies from us. Maps for Math itself does not set cookies. Third-party services described below may set their own.

Server logs and hosting

The site is served through Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested in order to deliver the site, keep it secure, and prevent abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Analytics

If we add analytics, we will use a privacy-friendly, cookieless service that counts visits and feature use (for example, “an exhibit was solved” or “a PDF was downloaded”) in aggregate, without identifying you or following you to other sites. This page will name the provider.

Advertising

Some exhibit, category, and export pages show ads served by Google AdSense. The interactive board on the home page never shows ads.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• We request non-personalized ads. Non-personalized ads are based on context, such as the page you are viewing, rather than your browsing history. Google may still use cookies or similar technology for frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and fraud and abuse prevention.
• Where the law requires it (for example, in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland), we ask for your consent before ads use cookies, through a consent message certified by Google.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google’s Ad Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info. To learn more, see how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Embedded videos

Some exhibits include a video from YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. After that, the player loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com), and Google’s privacy policy applies to your use of the player.

Affiliate links

Some pages include clearly labeled affiliate links to products. If you click one, the retailer may use cookies to tell that the visit came from Maps for Math, and we may earn a commission if you buy something. The retailer’s privacy policy applies on its site.

Children

Maps for Math is a general-audience educational site and is used by students. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and the site has no feature for submitting personal information. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because we don’t hold personal information about you, there is usually nothing for us to access, correct, or delete. You can clear the site’s session storage by closing the tab, and manage cookies from third parties in your browser settings. Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or California law), you may have additional rights. Contact us and we will help.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
